Plants & Flowers
How often do fresh flowers arrive at your shop?
Most days between Monday – Friday we’ll have a delivery, especially from late April to early October when we have locally grown suppliers as well as Dutch suppliers delivering.
How often do fresh plants arrive at your shop?
We tend to have one delivery a week, usually towards the end of the week on Thursdays or Fridays.
What if I’m unhappy with flowers or anything I buy from you?
It happens from time to time with every business.
We take such care with our products and work, particularly in terms of quality, freshness and presentation so we get very few complaints.
If something is not right though, please email enquiries@snapdragonedinburgh.com and include an image and we’ll get right back to you.
Flowers I’ve ordered don’t look exactly as in your image online?
All our designs are seasonal florist’s choice which are freshly made each day in our Bruntsfield shop. We do not have ‘set, fixed content’ bouquets with flowers that never change seasonally, that is not our style of work, nor do we buy in pre-made set bouquets from wholesalers.
Each is bespoke, made using the freshest, seasonal flowers and foliage that we have in stock that day within any stated colour choice. Our pictures and descriptions are therefore a reliable guide to our style of work rather than an exact representation.
Is it possible to order something specific? Eg stems of one type of flower rather than a bouquet or a specific plant?
It usually is, yes! Just call us on 0131 229 1951 or email enquiries@snapdragonedinburgh.com and we’ll do our best to help.
Is sustainability important to you?
It most certainly is. Please see our sustainability statement.
Do you use floral foam?
We are 90% plastic based floral foam free. We do use a biodegradable basalt based alternative, and only in limited circumstances for some funeral and wedding work. Please see our Sustainability statement.
Delivery
Do you deliver 7 days a week?
No sorry, we don’t deliver Sundays (apart from wedding flowers).
We deliver Monday – Saturday within our local delivery area, postcodes EH1 to EH26.
Exceptions are peak periods like Valentine's Day, Mother’s Day and the days leading up to Christmas when Sunday deliveries are made.
Do you do same day local deliveries?
Yes, if you place the order by 11am that day.
Do you have a minimum spend for delivery?
Yes we do, currently it is £55, which can be one item, or several items to that value.
Do you deliver nationally?
No, not any more as there were so many issues with deliveries arriving late and with a fresh product such as flowers, we feel it’s just too risky.
We can deliver via our local courier to postcodes out with EH1- EH26, although you need to contact us on our contact form with the full address, including postcode and we’ll get a quote before you place the order.
Areas covered are Midlothian, East Lothian, West Lothian, Fife, Lanarkshire and Scottish Borders.
How much do you charge for delivery?
It varies depending on the postcode. Please refer to our delivery information.
Can I request a timed delivery slot?
Due to the volume of work, we can offer timed deliveries for wedding and funeral flowers only unfortunately.
However, we will always do our best to meet specific requests.
We can deliver any time between 9.30am- 5.00pm, but most days, deliveries are made between mid morning and before 3pm.
Exceptions are peak periods like Valentine's Day, Mother’s Day and the days leading up to Christmas when deliveries can be between 9.00am -6.00pm.
What if the recipient isn’t home to accept the delivery?
Our courier driver will only bring something back to our shop as a last resort.
They’d first look for a safe, covered space to leave the item. If that isn’t an option, then they try neighbours.
They’ll sometimes call you or the recipient’s phone number if there are problems.
A postcard will be popped through the door to say where the delivery has been left.
We’re sorry, if the item is brought back to the shop and redelivery is required, then another delivery fee must be paid.
Wedding & Funeral Flowers
How far do you travel to deliver and set up weddings?
We’ll make a round trip of about 3 hours at most.
We do a lot of elopement weddings though eg on Skye or the Scottish Highlands which we pack carefully and these can be collected the day before and travel with you or go by courier.
How do I make an enquiry about my wedding?
To find out if we’re available on your date, please enquire via our Contact Form or email enquiries@snapdragonedinburgh.com.
If we are available, we’ll ask you do complete the Wedding Enquiry form on the Weddings page of our website here.
If it’s a smaller to mid sized wedding or elopement, you can also order online.
I wish to have very specific flowers made for a loved one’s funeral. Can you help?
Yes of course. We have some designs online that you can view here which can be made in specific colours and include specific favourite flowers.
If this does not meet your needs, please do email enquiries@snapdragonedinburgh.com
